Following the high-level talks held in Ashgabat between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, who arrived in our country on an official visit, a ceremony was held to sign and exchange bilateral documents. The signed instruments are aimed at launching a new chapter in relations between the two countries across science, education, transport, and foreign policy. This was reported by the State News Agency “Turkmenistan today”.

Accordingly, with a view to strengthening ties in science and diplomacy, a Memorandum of Understanding was adopted between the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Academy of Sciences of Malaysia, alongside a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of Malaysia on cooperation in diplomatic training and scientific exchange.

To expand mutually beneficial cooperation in transport and logistics, a Memorandum of Understanding between the “Turkmenhowayollary” State Service and the Ministry of Transport of Malaysia, as well as an Air Services Agreement between the Governments of the two states, were put into effect. These documents will contribute to further enhancing the logistical capabilities between the two nations.

In order to deepen partnership in education, respective Agreements on student exchange and mobility programs were approved between the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan, the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute, and the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan — each partnering with the Tenaga National University of Malaysia.

At the conclusion of the official event, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim solemnly signed a Joint Statement on the outcomes of the official visit. This historic document notes the commitment of the parties to the sustainable development of interaction at the bilateral and regional levels, as well as within international organizations, and summarizes the results of the Malaysian delegation’s visit to Turkmenistan.
